They Made It!
My parents arrived today! I remember setting the dates for their trip and thinking how far off it seemed, but it feels like yesterday that we started planning this trip. I followed their flight online and they were over Cuba when I went to bed last night. I woke up this morning and they were over Argentina and to flight information that estimated their arrival time to be just over an hour early (at 9:00am). I had already made arrangements for a car service to pick me up at home, take me to the airport, and bring my parents and me home. My ride was to pick me up at 9:30am, putting me at the airport at 10:30. I didn't have any way to reach my parents, so I finally concluded that they knew what time I was planning to get to the airport and they would just wait on me if they were really that early.
It was pouring down rain this morning. The car arrived and Xiomara and I were on our way to the airport. The roads were flooding in places. After driving through some deep water, the car cut off. The driver arranged for another car from the company to pick us up. While we were waiting, the car cranked and we were on our way again. We got to the airport and I found out the flight landed on time, not an hour early.
The waiting area was really crowded. As people filtered out, I made my way up to the front where I could see people exiting from customs. The past 4 months have flown by, but the 30-45 minutes I was waiting on my parents felt like forever. It was so great to see them walk through the exit!
The sun was coming out when we arrived in Ballester. After having some lunch and getting settled, we took a trip to the grocery store and went for a walk. We saw a few people from the congregation this afternoon and I introduced them. I kept forgetting Mom and Dad don't understand Spanish and I have to translate for them. I'm so excited to be able to share my world with them this week.
