Yankee
I'm a "Yankee". "Yankee" is what Argentines call people from the US. (It's pronounced "Jankee" with a short "a".) I was first called "Yankee" by a 4-year-old at the comedor. I found it funny that I was being called "Yankee" because I'm certain nobody in the States would confuse me for a Yankee, especially after hearing me speak. Of course, nobody here can tell the difference between people in different parts of the US, just like I can't tell the difference between people from different parts of Argentina. I've told some of my friends, when it comes up in conversation, that in the US, "Yankee" is used to refer to people in the north around NY, (Everyone is familiar with NY from movies and TV.) but they'll probably never understand the humor that my friends from the States and I found in me being called a "Yankee". (I'm the only one in our group from the US who is from the south.)
