Moving Day

On Sunday last week (Sept 13) I was told that my apartment would be ready on Wednesday (Sept 16). The next day, I ran into Omar, the main person working on my apartment, and he told me the apartment would be ready by the weekend. On Friday evening, I walked downstairs to the kitchen in the dorm where I was staying and I found out my apartment was ready! I was handed a wad of keys for all the gates and doors I have to get through to get to my apartment and I was told I could move in anytime. I have 5 locked gates and doors to go through to get into my apartment. Which means I have 5 (large) keys to carry around. I was very excited about my apartment being ready and would have moved in Friday night if I wasn't so tired. I ran up to my room and had my suitcases ready to go within 10 mintues and by 9:00 Saturday morning, I had my stuff moved to my apartment.

I am getting settled in quickly. It was exciting to be able to unpack my suitcases after a month of living out of them! I was also excited to have my own shower again. And I don't have to wear shower shoes now! I went shopping yesterday with Cristina, one of the ladies here at the church, to get items for my kitchen. Last night, I had a few friends over for dinner. My apartment already feels very homey. It reminds me a lot of the apartment I had in the States before moving here.

My housing is much nicer than I expected it to be and I have wireless internet. (Definitely not something I thought I would have.) Which means that I can post on here regularly! :)
