CumpleaƱo

Every month, the comedor has a birthday celebration for the children who have birthdays that month. The celebration is planned for the last Friday of each month, but if we don't have supplies to make a cake for that day, we wait to have the celebration when we have supplies.

Today, we celebrated September birthdays. (Unfortunately, I didn't think to take my camera, so no pics this time.) The cakes were spread across a table and the children with September birthdays gathered around the cakes. We sang to them and they blew out the candles. For some reason, which I'm not sure of, the candles were re-lit and we sang a second time. Every child who's birthday we celebrated today received a small gift, too.

There were a lot of children there for the celebration, but Beto told me we were still missing about 60 children! The children who have school in the afternoons weren't there. In December, when they have vacation from school, it sounds like the comedor is going to be very busy!
